At our heart, we’re more than warriors—we’re a family.
Founded in April 2024, Iceborn Vikings was born from a shared passion for Viking history and a vision to build something real: a community that lives, learns, and grows together. We’re a family-oriented Viking society that brings to life the spirit of a Viking encampment—where everyone, from the youngest shield-bearer to the oldest skald, has a place.
Through authentic crafts, storytelling, and hands-on training, we recreate the everyday life of a Viking settlement—not just to teach history, but to live it together. Our goal is simple: to connect people, inspire curiosity, and offer a place where families can step into the past and create memories that last.
As we grow, so do the adventures. Come with us across the UK as we take part in events filled with feasting, forging, learning, and laughter—and, for those ready to take up arms, standing proud in the shield wall beside your tribe.

Every Saturday, the battlefield awakens at The Old Rectory Park, Houghton-le-Spring (DH4 4BB). This is where warriors are made.
Our training sessions are anything but ordinary. Each week brings a new challenge, as we sharpen our mastery in sword, axe, spear, and shield combat. From the thunderous power of the shield wall to the chaos of skirmishes and the intensity of one-on-one duels, you'll learn to fight like the warriors of old.
Whether you're a battle-hardened veteran or swinging a blade for the first time, our training is designed to build you up—safe, strong, and ready.
Before stepping onto the field of glory at events, every warrior must pass an assessment to prove they’re ready to stand with the shield brothers and sisters beside them.
This isn’t just training. It’s transformation.

Membership
FIRST 3 SESSIONS
To make sure re-enactment is for you, the first three sessions are completely free
This will enable you to get a feel for the hobby and help you decide if you wish to become a full member.

FULL MEMBERSHIP
Full membership covers your insurance up until April, Membership fees are to be renewed every April to keep you insured for training and events

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP
Want to get the other half and kids involved? Family membership covers 2 adults plus kids, Kids train with foam or plastic swords whereas parents will train with full metal.
